About Us

Hello, and welcome to a Little Furniture Shop, we are Heather and Mark, the husband and wife duo behind this venture. We met in 2000, and after a whirlwind time we opened our first store in Shrewsbury in 2001! Heather had worked a variety of sales jobs, and Mark had always done what he loved, which is making furniture and upholstery from scratch, Mark had been selling these through interior designers and boutique shops – so, with a fabulous saleswoman on side, A Little Furniture Shop was born! Two boys and around twenty years later, we are still boldly following the passions and fashions of the industry, whilst also making sure to offer a personal touch and that something different for our valued customers, still happily in our Little Furniture Shop.

Of course, in twenty years, styles and ideas have changed, but we have changed with them by moving from the Victorian and 1920s style that was jaw dropping in the early noughties, to now selling a range of restored vintage furniture, specialising in unique pieces. Since we make the whole piece, anything is possible! We specialise in Scandanavian design, with a real focus on importing and restoring Danish vintage pieces.

Since this is ‘About Us’, here at A Little Furniture Shop we have 3 points we always keep in mind:

Q: Do you deliver?

Yes we deliver UK wide and can also ship abroad. Our large deliveries are usually made by ourselves so you can be assured your furniture arrives in perfect condition.

Q: How long does it take for me to receive my order?

If you are buying one of our ready to go pieces, we would try and deliver in under 2 weeks, often sooner depending on where you are. Bespoke pieces will be dependent on work load and if the fabric is in stock. Footstools are usually ready in 4-5 weeks, larger furniture 12-14 weeks. You will be kept updated. If you have a deadline, please do let us know and we will let you know if we can meet your deadline.

Q: Can I see your furniture?

We have a retail shop in Shrewsbury town centre so if you are making a special journey, please telephone to make sure the piece you would like to see is available. Our un-restored pieces are stored at our workshop just on the outskirts of Shrewsbury and can be viewed by appointment.

Q: Can I choose any fabric for my sofa?

We have a huge choice of fabrics but if you have a specific fabric in mind, then do let us know. Fabrics have to comply with UK fire regulations. The fabrics we use are hard wearing and from trusted suppliers. Not all fabrics are suitable for some upholstery so we are happy to advise and find the right fabric you are looking for.

Q: I’m allergic to feathers, is there an alternative for cushions?

Yes cushions can be made from foam, or dacron,  a polyester wadding which is what you would have in pillows. These do need plumping up but foam doesn’t.
